My thoughts on Winter in 2019

We're one month into Meteorological Winter. What's been going on? All of the people calling for above normal snowfall are scratching their heads on what went wrong with their forecast so far. I'll tell you... With an El Nino, our area almost always sees mix events. Warm air loves to surge in ahead of a storm. Bringing mainly rain events for us. Sometimes we'll squeeze out a little ice or snow to start or end a storm. But that's it. From what we've seen so far, I don't expect things to change. El Nino is here! Mixes and rain events will continue. Snow is certainly going to happen, but we aren't going to see enough this Winter to put us above average. In a typical Winter, we see about 36-42" of snow in Schuylkill County. We'll stay below those numbers and I'm confident of that. This is for the months of December, January and February.
