Snow and sleet will overspread the area during the morning. It really shouldn't have a problem sticking to the roads. It's going to be slick; especially where sleet is heaviest. Lower elevations will see LESS in the way of snow accumulation. I believe a changeover to plain rain will occur earlier in these areas. However, higher terrain will stay colder the longest. Thus, more snow and ice.

Lower elevations should start seeing rain mix in late afternoon or early evening. I expect it to be cold enough at the surface that the rain will freeze. Freezing rain will last a few hours before a changeover to plain rain.

Higher elevations will changeover to freezing rain in the evening. Again, it's going to freeze for at least a few hours. Expect trees to be coated, sidewalks to be icy and car doors iced shut. These areas will be the hardest hit with ice.

SPONSOR:

Plain rain will finish off the event for EVERYONE in the area. I expect everyone to be warm enough after midnight Friday morning. It's going to be one sloppy storm, so if you must not travel, I suggest staying home. With it being the first significant storm of the season, there will be tons of wrecks across the region. Prepare your vehicles NOW with the proper supplies in case you become stranded or anything of that nature.

Below is the SNOW/ICE MAP:
